grammar for dummies I

The simple sentence: it contains a finite verb. It compoun
of two parts, the SUBJECT and the PREDICATE. e.g :

Subject predicate
the boy hit the dog
the dog bit the boy

We can combine two simple sentences using but or and. A combination of two or more simple senteces is called a compoun sentence:
Paul plays football but/and Amy prefers tennis
